How To Answer short answer questions!!!

Question:
What could have happened to
avoid The Civil War?
Restate it as a sentence that introduces to your reader what you are going to talk about. For example:

There were alternatives available to avoid The Civil War that could have been taken.
or
The Civil War could have been avoided several different ways.

Now, write three detail sentences that specifically backup your statement!
For example:
The North and South could have tried to work out a compromise for power and leadership in governing the country.
or
Industrialization could have been brought to the South by the North to help them eliminate slavery and still grow economically.
or
The election of the president could have included a representative from both parts of the country.

5. Write a conclusion - a conclusion sums up what you said in a different way, offers a suggestion, alternative, opinion, or prediction.
For example:
The Civil War may not have been avoidable but the results could have been different if both sides had tried a little harder to see the situation from each other's perspective.



Those five parts makeup a good short answer question. You do not need to:
1. write the question - you restated it!
2. say, "In conclusion, that is why...
