You have no room to complain about feeling "crowded" in your car until you've been on a chiva in the country!

Cacao (chocolate beans) drying by the sides of the road is the norm on the way to the beach.

Honduras Medical Mission and Church Building - June 2006

Ecuador Community Projects - July 2006

Spending the summer in Central and South America definitely was one way to get away from the heat wave in the states this summer!  Look at each link above to see pictures of what the summer included. It was a great time for me to think about what we needed to continue to be involved in, look at new opportunities, and plan projects for future mission teams with the local leaders.

Finding God's plan for your life may often be just being available and doing what you can for whom ever God places in your path.

Out in Guayllabamba, the construction continues and is nearing completion. The sanctuary expansion and interior are complete as well as the bathrooms. The work on the second story classrooms and living area for missionaries is scheduled to be finished by the end of August with a church group from Texas taking on that challenge and expense. We are still working toward purchasing a vehicle for the church as they currently can't drive into Quito with the vehicles they have, and, the back of a pickup is subject to the weather as they travel to the mission church for their afternoon service. The cost is approx. $15,000 for a used 12 passenger van.

Working with the Ninos en Riesgo de la Calle (Children at risk living in the streets) was rewarding and challenging at the same time. It's hard to teach, especially a child who has known no other way, that even though you have to steal and often fight to survive day to day on the streets, within the program's confines we want you to practice godly values and principles and work to change your life with Jesus Christ. It all sounds good on paper, but with only 4 hours a day, 4 days a week, and half that time focused on physical needs, it requires a lot of prayer, hard work, and volunteers to be successful.

We will continue to work with teams to Ecuador to be the support for the programs we have started and work with there and go wherever God leads us!
